| Ground Cloves | ½ tsp |
| Ground allspice | ½ tsp |
| Red Hot candies | 1 cup |

Canning Recipe for Apple Butter
Follow these steps to make apple butter at home which you can offer as food gifts for Christmas.
- Boil apples and vinegar combined, in the stockpot.
- Now reduce the heat and simmer in uncovered condition until tender.
- Now cool the mixture slightly by removing the heat.
- Process until blended in the food processor.
- Now it’s time to add in pan brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, salt, cloves, allspice and extract along with the red hot candies freshly dissolved in hot water.
- In a stockpot, combine apples and vinegar; bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 30-40 minutes or until tender. Remove from heat; cool slightly. Process in batches in a food processor until blended. Return all to pan.
- Now again bring it to boil, reduce heat and simmer. Keep uncovered until mixture reaches thick, spreadable consistency.
- Add brown sugar, sugar, cinnamon, salt, extract, cloves and allspice. Dissolve red-hots in boiling water; stir into apple mixture.
- Bring to a boil. Reduce heat; simmer, uncovered, 2 hours or until mixture reaches a thick, spreadable consistency.
- Now remove from heat and its time to fill it in the jar. Laddle hot mixture into sterilized hot 1 pint jars (8 jars). Leave one fourth inch headspeace. Now adjust the headspace, remove any bubbles and center lids on jars. Then screw on bands until fingertip tight.
- The last step is to place jars into canner with simmering water. Completely covering it with water, bring it to boil. Then process for 5 minutes and remove jars. And cool it. Ta da! Your apple butter is ready. Now you can offer this gift in a can.
